The web pages that present your products to the customer are known collectively as the shop front. The shop front is essentially an online catalogue that enables customers to browse for products and identify those they wish to purchase.

Being able to find the products that customers are looking for quickly and easily is essential. It is often said that if customers can't find the products they want within an eight-second window, they are likely to leave and look elsewhere.

The design of the shop front should make shopping intuitive, with the customer knowing at all times what stage of the buying process they are at.

Shopping Cart

Shopping carts programs are the software on eCommerce websites that allow users to buy and pay for goods. Once a customer selects the goods they wish to purchase, it should be easy to proceed to the checkout in order to make a payment.

It is important that the process is swift and that your site does not require the customer to input large amounts of personal information as this might prevent them completing the transaction.

It is equally important that your eCommerce site provides a summary and which includes details of postage any packing and shipping requirements. The site should also email a summary/receipt to the customer at the end of the process.


Payment Software

There are number of ways to pay for goods purchased online, including credit/debit card payments, Paypal and Google Checkout. Most customers will choose to pay using their credit or debit cards so, in order to accept payment in this manner, there are several steps needed to achieve this including:-

You need the merchant account to be able to accept credit or debit card payments per se. The payment processing company, often known as the payment service provider (PSP), is the organisation that allows you to take a secure payment by card online and provide your customers with the confidence they need to use their cards to buy goods from your eCommerce website.
